QOTD: Do you use the maps included in books?⁣
⁣
Honestly, I’m usually terrible at referring to maps in books.⁣
⁣
I’m too much of a plot junkee to take the time to look at the geography and make sense of it all.⁣
⁣
I just keep reading. 😅⁣
⁣
I only really look back at the map when geography and where the characters are / need to be is critical to the story.⁣
⁣
Otherwise, I just go “ooh pretty map” and forget about it.⁣
⁣
Do you have a favorite bookish map?⁣

QOTD: What’s the last book you bought?⁣
⁣
I’m supposed to be on a book buying ban, but I bought IRON FLAME. 😅⁣
⁣
I just couldn’t help myself and pre-ordered it anyway because I just had to know what would happen next. And it’s hard for me to exercise self-control anytime there’s a limited time offer (the stained edges).⁣
⁣
I got it off Amazon because I had a gift card, and in the past, Amazon was pretty good at shipping books on/close to the release date.⁣
⁣
Not the case for IRON FLAME.⁣
⁣
I didn’t get a shipping notification until SUNDAY.⁣
⁣
Which gave me some anxiety. And it didn’t help that Amazon changed the image feature the book WITHOUT the stained edges.⁣
⁣
Anyway, it was finally delivered (with the stained edges), so now I can start my reread of FOURTH WING.⁣
⁣
If only I could decide which copy to read…⁣
⁣
If you have multiple editions of a book, how do you decide which edition to read?⁣

QOTD: What’s one of your favorite nostalgic read QOTD: What’s one of your favorite nostalgic reads?⁣
⁣
The Gallagher Girls series is definitely one of mine.⁣
⁣
It might actually be the very first YA book I ever read.⁣
⁣
Or at the very least, it’s the book series that forced me to discover my library’s young adult section. I remember searching the middle grade section high and low five times, not understanding why it wasn’t there until the librarian redirected me to the other side of the library. 😅⁣
⁣
Now, almost 15 years later, it’s still one of my favorite series, especially when I need a good comfort read.⁣
⁣
If you swipe left, you’ll see the dedication page of Ally Carter’s newest book, THE BLONDE IDENTITY.⁣
⁣
It says “For the GGs. I’m so proud of you”.⁣
⁣
I thought it was really sweet, especially since I feel like THE BLOND IDENTITY exists within the Gallagher Girls universe.⁣
⁣
Is there a dedication that sticks with you?⁣

QOTD: What are some of your favorite bookish eleme QOTD: What are some of your favorite bookish elements or tropes?⁣
⁣
I love reading books that feature a strong sibling bond, dragons, and a major dilemma. Oh, and I love a good story about the chosen one trope.⁣
⁣
All of these elements are included in SO LET THEM BURN by Kamilah Cole. Thank you so much @thenovl for gifting me an ARC!⁣
⁣
I can’t wait to read this Jamacian-inspired fantasy!⁣

QOTD: What’s your preferred series length? I li QOTD: What’s your preferred series length?

I like shorter series like duologies and trilogies.

These days I don’t really have the time or attention for longer series. But to be honest, as long as I can binge-read it, length doesn’t really matter.

I just can’t keep up with all the publication dates and the rereading required to stay on top of series in progress. And because I have the memory of a goldfish when it comes to plots, rereading IS required.

Which is another reason why I like series like His Fair Assassin by Robin LaFevers where each book could theoretically function as a standalone.

I still need to read the spin-off series though. 😅

Do you enjoy reading spin-offs?

QOTD: What’s the last book you stayed up late re QOTD: What’s the last book you stayed up late reading?⁣
⁣
It was An Echo of Fire for me.⁣
⁣
I should know better than to read before bed by now, but I always make the same mistake.⁣
⁣
I just wanted to read a few chapters to maintain my reading streak and ended up staying up an extra three hours and going to bed at 1 AM.⁣
⁣
And it was a weekday too. 😭⁣
⁣
Needless to say, I required a LOT of coffee in the morning. And even two cups didn’t cut through the sleep-depraved haze and book hangover.⁣
⁣
Do you have any tips on avoiding staying up too late to read?⁣

QOTD: Do you read fantasy? Fantasy is probably my QOTD: Do you read fantasy?

Fantasy is probably my favorite genre!

But lately, I’ve been reading more romance and rom coms. 😅

I love the action, adventure, and world-building in fantasy books, but sometimes it can get a bit… dark. And I’ve been craving more light-hearted reads recently.

I think it’s time I start exploring cozy fantasy (don’t think I’ve actually read one??) or reread a fantasy I enjoyed, like Three Dark Crowns.

Have you read any cozy fantasies?
