QTOD: Do you have a favorite Greek god/goddess/her QTOD: Do you have a favorite Greek god/goddess/hero/myth?⁣
⁣
Lore was my first read of the year and it let me start my 2021 with a bang! It was definitely an interesting take on Greek mythology. And even more impressively, it contained so many relevant discussions we probably should be talking about. They were all woven into the story so nicely.⁣
⁣
That said, it does have a trigger warning for graphic violence and the mention and discussion of sexual assault.⁣

QTOD: What are you currently reading?⁣ ⁣ I'm k QTOD: What are you currently reading?⁣
⁣
I'm kind of thinking of rereading some of my favorite old series, even though one of my reading resolutions this year is to limit rereads. There's just such a comfort in reading a book you know you'll enjoy. But at the same time, there are so many new books I probably should be reading instead.⁣
⁣
I'm just still kind of stuck in a slump. Both in terms of reading, and also just life in general. My poor brain is tired.⁣

QTOD: What's your favorite book featuring a margin QTOD: What's your favorite book featuring a marginalized character?⁣
⁣
One of my favorites that I read this year is 𝘍𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘥 by Alexa Martin. It's become one of my favorite romance books and I've already reread it twice after I read it in November.⁣
⁣
—⁣
⁣
In June I pledged to read more diversely and along with that, I audited my reading. Now that we're at the end of the year (there's still a few more hours left in 2020 here), here's the results from my full audit.⁣
⁣
📚 29.2% of the books I read in 2020 featured a marginalized character and/or was written by a marginalized author.⁣
⁣
📚 16.9% of my reads were #OwnVoices books.⁣
⁣
📚 9.2% of my reads had queer main characters.⁣
⁣
📚 18.5% had BIPOC main characters.⁣
⁣
📚 4.6% had a main character with a disability.⁣
⁣
Overall, I think I did okay, but I could have done a lot better. Especially when it comes to more consciously picking up diverse reads.⁣
⁣
Do you have any recommendations for diverse books I should read in 2021?⁣

QTOD: How did your reading go in 2020?⁣ ⁣ Mine QTOD: How did your reading go in 2020?⁣
⁣
Mine went surprisingly well until these last few months. I did a lot of binge reading in the spring but was in and out of reading slumps starting in October.⁣
⁣
Anyways, here's a quick breakdown of how my reading went in 2020:⁣
⁣
📚 I'm on track to end the year with 65 books read, which is more than my goal of 50.⁣
⁣
📚 I've had 16 of the books I read before the start of 2020 (8 were rereads).⁣
⁣
📚 Almost half the books I read were sci-fi/fantasy.⁣
⁣
📚 Jennifer L. Armentrout is my most read of the author of the year again (she won in 2018 too).⁣
⁣
What's one of your 2020 reads that you'd recommend?⁣

QTOD: What kind of reading stats do you track?⁣ QTOD: What kind of reading stats do you track?⁣
⁣
I've been reading a lot of wrap up posts and it's so interesting to see what stats are important to different people. I generally just track the genre, pub date (this year or backlist), and the start and end dates. But I've seen people track everything from page count for each day, time spent reading everyday, to their mood while reading.⁣
⁣
I'm thinking of adding my (daily) page count, the total number of pages a book has, and also which books I DNF (and why) and skim read.⁣
⁣
Those stats would be so interesting. And then I won't have to rely on Goodreads to tell me interesting things about my year in books. For example, apparently #RageAndRuin is the longest book I read this year.⁣
⁣
Are you surprised by any of your reading stats?⁣
⁣
—⁣
⁣
Disclaimer: This post was slightly photoshopped. No (new) books were (seriously) damaged in the making of this photo. I used a book that already had water damage and then photoshopped the cover over it.⁣
⁣
Honestly, this is one of my favorite photos I've ever posted. I'm proud of my photoshop job and how the original photo turned out. It makes freezing my butt and hands off worth it. 😊⁣

QTOD: Do you ever procrastinate on reading series QTOD: Do you ever procrastinate on reading series enders?⁣
⁣
I procrastinate reading them ALL the time. Especially when A) I've waited a long time to read them and B) it's a series I love.⁣
⁣
There's just this part of me that is a bit delusional and believes that if I didn't read it, it didn't happen. I like to keep all my favorite characters alive, happy and well, just saying. I've learned the hard way that some authors don't see it that way. 😅⁣
⁣
And that's the story of how we're at the end of 2020 and I still haven't read 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘤𝘺, which I got when it came out in 2018. The Darkest Minds is one of my favorite series, ever, and I'm so so scared to read this spin-off. 🙈⁣
