7 Types of Readers

Okay before I start I have to include that there are more than 7 types of readers. And no matter what anyone else says or thinks, you definitely can be more than one type.

Cover Lover

This one is simple. You love covers. You don’t necessarily judge a book by its cover, but let’s just say you’re wayy more likely to read it, the prettier its cover is. Chances are the books in you collection all have lovely covers that are eye candy for book lovers.

Plot Junkee

You read for the plot, and mainly for the plot alone. You don’t really care about the underlying messages, you just want to know what happens.

Escapist

This one is pretty obvious too. You read to escape. Escape reality. Just for you read so you can forget about the stress and problems of real life, because let’s face it, real life can suck (although fiction lives can be pretty bad too, poor Katniss…)

Cheater

You really want to know what happens. And yes, even more so than the plot junkees. You want, no need to know so bad what happens next that you’re willing to take a peak at Chapter 10 even thought you’re not done with Chapter 5 yet… or even peek at the epilogue.

Over the Moon for Swoons

You read for the romance. For the feels. For the kisses. For the pains of the breakup. For the joy of the characters getting back together. To witness two people fall in love. To… you get it.

Identifier / Relater

You read to find yourself somewhere between the pages. You read to see yourself as someone else and to relate to their cause and their problems. To the hardships and joys they face. I think everyone is an identifier. In my opinion, that’s that really makes reading worthwhile. Being able to relate to a character makes you more invested in his/her story.

A Reader

At the end of the day, everyone is just a reader. Whether you feel like you are more like a plot junkee or someone who is over the moon for swoons, you read to read. To enjoy a good story. To get the feels. To relate to a character that has superpowers. At the end of the day, we’re all reader. Maybe different ones, different types, but readers and book nerds nonetheless.

What types of reader are you?
What are some of your favorite types that are not listed above?

I feel like I am a mix of all of these depending on my mood! Recently I have been in the mood for realistic fiction, which probably puts me in the Identifier/Relater section at the moment…
    Great post, spot on!

  2. I think I’m a kind of reader who looks for moral messages. I love dystopian books, because they can be a warning to what can happen to our world if we are not careful. I also like books like The Winner’s Curse, because to me it challenged the way we look upon winning 😉

    This was a fun post!
