Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen—all of them—and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood—the blood of Olympus—in order to wake.
The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it "might" be able to stop a war between the two camps.
The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.
Do you even need a reason? But if you do, here’s one – this book marks the end of the Percy Jackson books and for me, the end of an era. I’ve been reading Percy Jackson for around 6 years, so I’ll have a hard time letting this one go.
I haven’t read the Percy Jackson ones yet (I do finally own them now though, so getting to them as soon as I can.) so then I can start these. 🙂
You should definitely give them a go, especially if you liked Harry Potter!
Thanks for stopping by Kirsty-Marie! 🙂
I still have to catch up on this series, as I haven’t read The Mark of Athena or The House of Hades. The Son of Neptune was great, though 🙂 I think I’ll read all three books once this one comes out (to avoid cliffhangers). Awesome pick!
That’s really smart. It always seems like each one of those books ends on a stupid cliffhanger.
Thanks for stopping by Montana! 🙂
I haven’t read ALL of the Percy Jackson books, but I’ve read quite a few. I need to catch up!

Get caught up! The whole series is really worth reading.
Thanks for stopping by Sarah! 🙂
This is on our list too! Rachel LOVES these books. So does my oldest daughter too! Great pick. Happy reading.
What’s not to love about Percy Jackson (except for the cliffhangers and the long wait between books)?
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
