Review – NOBODY

SYNOPSIS: There are people in this world who are Nobody. No one sees them. No one notices them. They live their lives under the radar, forgotten as soon as you turn away.

That’s why they make the perfect assassins.

The Institute finds these people when they’re young and takes them away for training. But an untrained Nobody is a threat to their organization. And threats must be eliminated.

Sixteen-year-old Claire has been invisible her whole life, missed by the Institute’s monitoring. But now they’ve ID’ed her and send seventeen-year-old Nix to remove her. Yet the moment he lays eyes on her, he can’t make the hit. It’s as if Claire and Nix are the only people in the world for each other. And they are—because no one else ever notices them.

REVIEW: Claire and Nix almost always feel invisible. That’s because they sort of are. Where they live, they are called nobodies. To everyone, they are nobodies. They aren’t anyone special. Barley anyone notices them. And when they find out they notice each other, secrets, deep, dark secrets, are revealed.

I thoroughly liked reading NOBODY. One of my favorite things about it was it’s plot. I have never read a book with a plot that was similar to the one of NOBODY. These days, with an exception of a few books, most of the books I read have similar or related plots to another book. The plot of NOBODY was new and original. And to me, that was refreshing. The concept of two people who feel and are somewhat invisible to the rest of the world finding each other was intriguing.

NOBODY alternates between the point of view of Nix and Claire. It was interesting to read their different perspectives. While both of them have gotten used to feeling like no one special, Claire still holds a shred a hope that someday someone will notice her. Nix, on the other hand, has more or less embraced his status. Their different views on how they were viewed was only one of things that made me want to read the book even more. Overall both of them were quite likable. What really made me enjoy reading NOBODY was my connection to Claire. Sometimes, I feel like she does in the beginning, like she’s just a face in the crowd. Of course, not to the extent that she does, but still. In a world full of fantasy books with strong heroines that demand attention, it was nice to read about one that wasn’t so famous.
