Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish.
I have a lot of books in my to be read pile. A lot. Many of them have been added after I started blogging in October of 2012. But many of them have been there since before then. And they are the ones, I sadly, may never get to. They can be separated into two basic categories. Books that have been recommended to me or ones with synopsis that caught my eye. And books that are sequels to books I enjoyed and apart of series I love.
Random TBR Books
The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen has been on my TBR for the longest time. Sarah Dessen is an author that has been recommended to me repeatedly when I was in middle school, but I’ve actually never read one of her books until last year. Since then, I’ve read Along for the Ride and Saint Anything but still haven’t gotten around to The Truth About Forever yet.
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta was recommended to me by my seventh grade teacher. Oops, at least it wasn’t required reading…
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is another book I first heard of in seventh grade that I still haven’t read. There are just too many books and not enough time, okay?
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys was published around the same time my eigth grade language arts class was entering its genocide unit. I chose to read Two Suns in the Sky instead and haven’t found the time to read Between Shades of Gray since then.
Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn’t Have) by Sarah Mlynowski gas been sitting on my shelves for a while. I won it from my library as part of its summer reading program but haven’t gotten around to actaully reading it.
Series I’ve Abandoned
Insurgent by Veronica Roth is a book that’s been on my TBR since I finsihed Divergent in 2011, which I really loved reading. A combination of lack of time and spoilers for Allegiant means I’ll probably never read it even though I loved the first book.
Perception by Kim Harrington is the sequel to Clarity, another book I enjoyed reading, despite the annoying love triangle.
Dreamless by Josephine Angelini is the sequel to Starcrossed. Unfortately, after waiting a year for this one to come out, my love for Starcrossed had dimmed and thus why I haven’t bothered to pick up its sequel.
Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent is apart of the Soul Screamers series, a series I loved until it started to feel like it was being dragged on. Soul Screamers is probably the first YA series I loved reading and its a love that I shared with one of my closest friends. But its been a while since I’ve read any of the books (roughly five years), so I don’t really plan on picking this series up again. 🙁
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare may have been published in 2014, but it’s been on my TBR shelf of my old Goodreads account since 2011. That’s how much I loved the series. And my love of the series is what keeps me from reading it. I just don’t want the series to end. And my love for it may have also, sadly, decreased after I started blogging. The blogosphere exposed me to a lot of author controversies, some of which include Cassandra Clare and The Mortal Instruments, that I weren’t aware of before and those controversies have sadly impacted my views on their books.
Great list!! I loved The Truth About Forever and Dreamless. Insurgent wasn’t quite as good as Divergent in my opinion, but I still enjoyed it. I pre-ordered Allegiant, but never read it because of the mixed reviews. I’m actually reading it now as part of a challenge. I need to finish 5 series I started prior to 2016. I hope you enjoy all of these when you get to them.
