The Sunday Post – Stacking the Shelves.

BOOK HAUL:

Borrowed from library:

Asylum

Asylum
by Madeleine Roux

I just found out that a few HaperCollins authors will be part of a panel at my local B&N. So of course, I looked up all the authors and decided to give their books a try. Madeleine Roux just happened to be one of those authors. I heard Asylum was a bit creepy and I’m not really a fan of creepy stuff so we’ll see how it goes.

This Week on Icy Cold Reads:
  • Investigated – How far can books get from real life?
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Thoughtful?
  • Review ?

This week was my first full week of school and it was TORTURE. I kind of forgot what it was like to have to do homework. I also forgot what it was like to have to wake up before 7 o’clock every morning… That was basically my week. I’m really really sorry if I still haven’t responded to comments but I’ve been really busy. I promise I will work on that, though! 🙂

How was your week?
Enjoy your books!

  1. I usually get up before 7am, but I’ve had a sleep-in week myself and now that I’m trying to get back into routine…ughhh. It’s HARD. 7am is such a sleepy part of the day. 😉 Good luck abandoning your bed! 😛
I really liked Asylum. It’s pretty similar to Miss Peregrine’s, but I actually think Asylum is better. My Stacking the Shelves!

    • If only my bed wasn’t so comfy… it’s even worse with the colder months coming up. I’m glad you liked Asylum… but please tell me it’s not as creepy as it looks!

Thanks for stopping by Cait! 🙂

    • I know what you mean. If only there weren’t such things as nightmares… (No seriously, I think they are the main reason why creepy things… creep me out).

Thanks for stopping by Kim! 🙂

    • Me too, but I’m trying… sort of. If I end up DNFing this book, it’ll probably be because it got too creepy for me more than anything else.

Thanks for stopping by Kyra! 🙂

  2. I haven’t read Asylum but there was some reasonable hype about it. Unlike you, I actually love creepy stuff so I’m going to go check it out. It’s somewhere on my TBR but idk where.

Please check out my haul (and leave a comment?), here!

    • Haha, books get lost in my TBR pile all the time too. It’s a good thing it’s not a physical list because if it was, it would probably be miles long.

Thanks for stopping by Nova! 🙂

  3. Good luck with the creepy book! I used to think I’d be way creeped out by creepy books, but I normally manage okay. Hope you enjoy it — but hey, if you don’t, don’t keep creeping yourself out if you don’t find that fun.

    • I usually manage okay too. But usually how you can tell the really good books apart from the okay ones is that the really good ones can creep you out a lot more. And yes, there probably is going to be a high chance that I DNF this one (unfortunately).

Thanks for stopping by Nikki! 🙂

    • Asylum is riding the publicity of it’s sequel, which I believe is coming out soon, if not already published. I heard a lot of good things about it, but also that it can get really creepy.

Thanks for stopping by Beth! 🙂

    • So far, the cover is proving to be an accurate portrayal of Asylum. I’m starting to think it is as creepy as it looks (if not more). o.o Thanks for the luck, I definitely need it to get through waking up early and having to do schoolwork at home. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Katherine! 🙂

  4. Oh lord! That cover is creepy. It actually reminds me of this horror film that I used to own. It was about children that died in a mine and was part of the After Dark horror fest collection. I could never sleep unless the book was turned so I couldn’t see it’s cover.

I hope you enjoy that panel. It’s so much fun when you get to meet authors.

Here’s my Stacking the Shelves post if you’re interested.

I just followed you on bloglovin and I really hope you decide to write about that panel if you go!

    • I will totally write about that panel… if my lets me go (aka if I finish all my homework…) I don’t generally like horror stuff so we’ll see how Asylum goes.

Thanks so much for following and for stopping by Rebecca! 🙂 🙂
