September/October 2016 Update

state-of-the-blog

I decided to change things up and try out monthly recaps instead of weekly ones. I’m linking this one up to two memes: Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. 🙂

Looking Back on September and October

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve written a post. I started my freshman year at college in September and then disappeared from the blogosphere. Before I got to college, I thought I could manage blogging and school. Boy was I wrong. Technically, I had more time – I now spend less time in class and doing homework than when I was in high school, but I totally underestimated the amount of time socializing takes up. Not to mention that I was a bit burnout blogging wise after hammering out all those reviews for NetGalley. But I’m back! For now, at least. 😉

Books Hauled

october-2016-haul

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
Blue Bloods and Something in Between by Melissa de la Cruz
Replica, Delirium, and Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige

Not pictured:
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

Kendare Blake, Melissa de la Cruz, Lauren Oliver, and Margaret Stohl were supposed to have an author panel together at my favorite Barnes and Noble. So naturally, I broke my book buying ban and went a little crazy. To be fair, more than half of my haul are used books so they were cheaper. Unfortunately, Margaret Stohl got stuck at New York Comic Con and couldn’t make it. On the bright side, Danielle Paige was a last minute addition.

Books Read

  • Gallagher Girls (the entire series) by Ally Carter
  • The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
  • Zero Day by Jan Gangsei

Looking Forward to November

Goals

Blog.

It might not sound hard, but given that I have another wave of midterms coming up, I have no idea how long I can stay active on this blog. I’ve run out of scheduled content.

Last Words

It feels great to get back into the blogging grove. We’ll see how it long it lasts. That being said, stayed tuned. Changes are coming.

How was your September/October?
What are you looking forwards to in November?

  1. Good luck with the time crunch. And nice book haul! I just read Replica and want to read Before I Fall and three Dark Crowns. That sounds like a fantastic book event- I’d want to see those authors too!

    • I loved Before I Fall. It took a while to get into though, but it was worth it. How was Replica? How did you read it. I’m so confused. Do you read one side first and then the other or alternate chapters?

      Thanks for stopping by Greg!

  2. Great to see you back. Sometimes it is a good to take a break for a bit for real life. Hope the monthly recaps will work for you. I just changed mine to a monthly one as well. 🙂

    • It’s good to be back I like monthly recaps because it’s less stressful than having to create a post every week, especially if nothing interesting happens…

      Thanks for stopping by Annemieke!

  3. Oh yeah, first semester of college is a lot of work! Getting to know people, find those you’d like to spend some of your free time with, those you can see yourself working with on projects, plus you need to have some fun, too!
It’s nice to see you back though, even for a wrap-up post 🙂
Have a wonderful November and happy reading.

  4. School really is more important, so don’t feel the pressure of having to blog. Do it on your own schedule and it’s good to take breaks every once in awhile.

Love your shiny new books. I haven’t heard of those authors, but they do look good. Hope you have a good week! ~Aleen

    • Thank you for the wonderful advice!

I love Lauren Oliver’s writing and have been a long time fan of Melissa de la Cruz. I haven’t read anything by Danielle Paige or Kendare Blake, but I’m trying to change that soon.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Good luck with staying in the blogging groove – it’s so time consuming but a lovely hobby.

Your latest book haul looks fantastic – I hope you enjoy the reads. There’s been so many mixed reviews on Three Dark Crowns but I loved it (which cover did you get?), and I also enjoyed Replica.

    Happy reading!
