Here’s my reading wrap up for the first quarter of the year. I’m two weeks late, but just have very little mental energy left after work lately (our fiscal year just ended/started).⁣

One of my biggest goals for 2024 is finding a balance between work, friends, reading, bookstagram, and other hobbies. So far, I’m kind of failing at the juggling act. 🤦🏻‍♀️⁣

Anyways, my top 3 highlights from Jan/Feb/March:⁣

🍵 checked out a NYC teahouse with friends⁣
⁣
🖤 pre-ordered Onyx Storm on the first day it was available. Which was a first for me, but Amazon’s price is hard to beat, even if it’ll be delivered late like my pre-order of Iron Flame was.⁣

🗽 visited the Statue of Liberty for the first time while my cousins were in town⁣

I honestly wasn’t too sure about reading the Lux series.⁣

I’m sorry, but when I think of aliens, I think of E.T.... 😅⁣

But The Dark Elements series, also by Jennifer L. Armentrout, is one of my favorites, so I thought I’d give this series a chance. And I’m glad I did.⁣

QOTD: What are some of your favorite bookish elements?

Two of mine are dragons and siblings, and So Let Them Burn has both.

I started reading it a while back but got a little sidetracked. It’s hard to find the time and energy to read when I’m so busy at work (our year end is coming up).

Every year, I see it coming and every year it somehow just sneaks up on me while I’m unprepared. 🤦🏻‍♀️

And it doesn’t help that my spring allergies are starting…

QOTD: What’s your favorite romance novel?

One of my all time favorites is Fumbled by Alexa Martin. It’s a sports related (American football) second chance romance, with all the feels (and a secret child).

Fumbled is one of my go to reads whenever I’m in a meh reading mood. And that fact that I can remember the plot and the characters’ name should give you an indication of how much I love it (I barely remember the characters in the last book I read 😅).

Highly recommend this (and the rest of the series) if you’re looking for an NFL romance to read.

QOTD: Do you like love triangles?

Honestly, love triangles don’t bother me that much. Just as long as I’m shipping the winning team.

But since I have a tendency to get too invested too early, I often end up hoping the wrong characters end up together. And that just leads to disappointment when the ultimate choice is made, regardless of how well matched the characters are.

For example, I know Peeta is the right guy for Katniss, but a part of me will always be on Team Gale. 💀

It’s even worse, when it’s a pair of siblings interested in the same person. Which is the only thing I didn’t really like about Little & Lion.

QOTD: Do you get snow where you live?

We usually get a least a little snow.

Honestly, I'm not usually the biggest fan. Especially since I can work from home now so no more snow days for me. 😅

It's cold and can be quite a bit of time (and work) to shovel the driveway and sidewalks and clean off the car. Meanwhile, I could have been spending that time reading.

But it does make things pretty. So, I couldn't resist going out for a little photoshoot to take pictures of some of the winter themed books I own.
