I just started my reread of THE NATURALS by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.⁣

It’s one of my all-time favorites and usually so good at pulling me in (it’s like Criminal Minds, but YA).⁣

I haven’t really been reading lately, so I’m using this as a test to see if I’m actually in a slump or just too busy and stressed to enjoy reading.⁣

QOTD: What’s your favorite reading format?

Mine these days is definitely ebooks!

They’re just so much more convenient since I can read them wherever I go, like waiting in line at the grocery store, without having to lug around a (sometimes massively heavy) book.

Not that I would recommend reading BRIDE in the grocery store. It’s, uh, a little spicier than the hot sauce aisle. 😅

QOTD: What are some of your favorite reads from childhood?

One of my absolute favorites growing up was the Warriors series - to the point where my friends and I actually created a playground game around the series.

It’s kind of insane to think about how many books there are now.

Maybe I should give the new books a read. 🤔

It’s been ages since I read any middle grade books, let alone this series, but I’m kind of curious how my old favorite characters are doing.

I'm thinking of reading THE STOLEN HEIR since I saw a couple of people recommending it. But it's been a while since I read YA so I'm still debating.⁣

Still, I think it'd be fun to see what Jude and Cardan are up to, assuming they're included in the newer books.⁣

As a side note: I think it's kind of funny how I was one of the first to read THE CRUEL PRINCE but am very late to possibly reading THE STOLEN HEIR. 😅⁣

I always admire all the pretty maps in whatever book I’m reading, and then promptly forget about them the moment I get to the first pages of the novel. 😅⁣
⁣
I’m just someone who embodies the statement “out of sight, out of mind.” If I can’t see it, I’ll probably forget it exists until I need it for reference.⁣
⁣
That said, I think the map in WE HUNT THE FLAME is one of the best I’ve seen. It’s so pretty and elaborate.⁣

My August was weirdly busy.⁣
⁣
And it doesn’t help that I got into a slump in the middle of the month - I currently have three books “on hold” or rather in my "to be finished" pile. Hence why Storygraph says I read 1,000+ pages even though the two books I finished only have 650 pages total.⁣

I’m currently deciding if I want to “officially” DNF or just keep them on hold, along with the SIX other books I haven't finished from earlier this year. 🙈⁣
