QTOD: What's your favorite by an Asian or BIPOC au QTOD: What's your favorite by an Asian or BIPOC author?⁣
⁣
Bonus points if they're comfort reads because I could really use one right now.⁣
⁣
I'm hoping to add #SpinTheDawn and #UnravelTheDusk to my list of favorites. I just have to read them first. 😅⁣
⁣
—⁣
⁣
I am so so tired. Tired of hearing about new crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders every week. Tired that no matter how loud the AAPI community tries to make our voices heard, no one seems to be listening. Tired that AAPI have to die for us to be having these types of discussions.⁣
⁣
I'm tired that targeted attacks are being portrayed as random or that the suspect was just having a "bad day". As if having a bad day excuses racist behavior.⁣
⁣
The fact that people cannot, or refuse to, accept that the Atlanta spa shootings are anti-Asian hate crimes is kind of racist, in and of itself. It proves both how subtle racism can be, even when displayed so violently, as well as how uncomfortable the idea of racism makes society.⁣
⁣
To me, there's an obvious connection between the shooter's sexual addiction, the "temptation" he wanted to eliminate, and the fact that he murdered six women of Asian descent. For centuries, Asian women have been marginalized and fetishized, seen as nothing more than docile, exotic prizes. To say that his crimes were not racially motivated ignores America's long history of perpetuating those degrading racist stereotypes.⁣
⁣
Sending lots of love to my AAPI friends. I'm here if you need someone to talk to. ♥⁣

QTOD: What are some of your favorite sequels?⁣
⁣
#DaughterOfTheSirenQueen is definitely one of mine. Not saying I didn't enjoy Daughter of the Pirate King (I loved it), just that I love DotSQ more. It's full of elements I love reading like action, adventure, and romance. And each of those elements were written so well, how could I not love it?⁣
⁣
What are some of your favorite elements to read in books?⁣
⁣
—⁣
⁣
No books were harmed in the making of this photo. I was really careful where I splashed the water and the book was protected by a plastic covering. Don't worry, it doesn't have any water damage.⁣

QTOD: Are you good at reading books on your tbr?⁣
⁣
I'm not. And these pics prove it.⁣ 😅
⁣
The first photo is my tbr for this year's OwlCrate-a-thon. Slide to see my tbr for last year's readathon. Anyone want to play spot the difference?⁣
⁣
I'm kind of curious about how this readathon will go. For starters, I haven't read a single book in two months. And on top of that, iirc, I only read one book during last year's readathon, so this should be interesting.⁣
⁣
Do you like participating in readathons and reading challenges?⁣
⁣
—⁣
⁣
Here's my final tbr for OwlCrate-a-thon 2021. I don't expect to read all of them, but I'll be really happy if I can get to at least one.⁣

QTOD: What's your favorite reading spot?⁣ ⁣ I QTOD: What's your favorite reading spot?⁣
⁣
I miss this apartment a lot - it's been about a year since I've lived there (college dorm), but this reading spot is definitely not one of my favorites. For starters, the window sill is too narrow and hard and cold to sit on. And on top of that, the window overlooks a parking lot so it's not at all the picturesque spot it looks like here.⁣
⁣
You have no idea how awkward taking this picture was. We lived on the third floor so when I had my blinds up, EVERYONE could see into my room from the parking lot. 😅 I gotta say, enduring the potential embarrassment was worth it for this shot.⁣
⁣
—⁣
⁣
When's your favorite time to read?⁣
⁣
I don't usually read near sunset, more like anytime after dinner. Or late at night.⁣

QTOD: Do you have a favorite found family?⁣ ⁣ QTOD: Do you have a favorite found family?⁣
⁣
Found families are a major selling point for me to get interested in reading a book. The one thing my favorite books have in common is that they all feature a found family of some kind.⁣
⁣
I just love watching their relationships with one another grow and bond together. Of course, the usual banter and antics that come along are fun to read too.⁣
⁣
That's why I was so excited to receive #CrownOfBones by A.K. Wilder from @EntangledTeen a while ago. I can't wait to read it once I get my reading mojo back.⁣

QTOD: What's your current favorite trope?⁣ ⁣ I QTOD: What's your current favorite trope?⁣
⁣
I'm loving the idea of second chance romances right now. Have you read any good ones?⁣
⁣
I feel like there aren't too many books with this trope done well. Or at least not that many that I'm familiar with. 😅 But still, it's one of my favorite tropes because it always tends to be angsty and full of all the feels, but also sweet and endearing.⁣
⁣
Anyways, #ForDarknessShowsTheStars by #DianaPeterfreund is one of my favorites. And so is Fumbled by Alexa Martin.⁣

QTOD: What's your favorite book with all the feels QTOD: What's your favorite book with all the feels?⁣
⁣
I am in desperate need of recommendations. I haven't read a book since the start of the year. 😱⁣
⁣
That's not an exaggeration. I really haven't been in the reading mood lately. And when I am, I just end up rereading passages from my favorite books since I can't get through the first chapter of any new book I start.⁣
⁣
Sigh why I am such a mood reader?⁣
