I decided to change things up and try out monthly recaps instead of weekly ones, which I’m now calling ‘State of the Blog’. I’m linking this one up to two memes: Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. 🙂
Looking Back on June
June was a month of nothing. Besides celebrating my birthday and going to see Wonder Woman, I didn’t really do anything interesting. Just me being lazy. And super unmotivated. But summer is flying by so fast. It feels like I just got out of school two weeks ago, but in reality finals week ended in May.

Books Hauled
- The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones
- The Crowns of Croswald by D.E. Night
- Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller
- Foretold edited by Carrie Ryan
- Trust Me, I’m Lying by Mary Elizabeth Summer
I hauled a few books this month. I broke my book buying ban (again) when I bought my first OwlCrate box. Some of their past boxes were on sale and it was an offer I couldn’t miss. Then I visited Dollar Tree… I also received/won The Hearts We Sold from NOVL for review and The Crowns of Croswald from D.E. Knight for Instagram promotion (shameless plug: my #bookstagram account is @pagingserenity).
Books Read
- Royal Bastards by Andrew Shvarts
- The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (reread)
- The Long Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- What Goes Up by Katie Kennedy
- The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones
This summer I am participating in the #20BooksofSummer reading challenge hosted by Cathy at 746 Books. The goal is pretty self-explanatory – read 20 books before Labor Day. This challenge is going a bit better than expected for me. I’m a little behind – I only read 5 books this month when I should have read 7. But 5 is still really good for a girl that has only read like 9.5 books this year so far (one was a novella).
Looking Forward to July
July is shaping up to be a hectic month for me. My brother’s an incoming high school senior so my mom is dragging the whole family college visiting almost every weekend this month. Why do I have to go when I’m already in college? I have no idea. She’s trying to sell them as weekend getaways but no one’s buying it, not even my brother.
Goals
Stay sane. Read books. Comment more. SCHEDULE POSTS AHEAD OF TIME SO THIS BLOG WON’T BE NEGLECTED WHEN I GO BACK TO SCHOOL.

How was your June?
What are you looking forwards to in July?
Awesome haul of books this week. I hope you love all of them.

I am looking forward to all of the posts coming in July! I went to see Wonder Woman too and I absolutely adored the movie. Oh, and those look like some beautiful new books. Hope you can enjoy reading them with the rest of your summer. ^.^
Wonder Woman was really good. I can’t wait for the sequel (and Justice League even though I’m not the most familiar with DC Comics) to come out! I hope you have a great summer! 🙂
Try to enjoy the last bits of summer before you have to go back to school. Maybe you can get some reading done while visiting schools with your brother! I don’t buy your mom’s excuse either 🙂
I have also been hella unmotivated all month. Honestly, I still am, but I’d be embarrassed to tell anyone that I’ve legit been doing nothing all summer. My brother is also an incoming senior…and we’re not even asking him what his deal is. He made a comment some time back that he’d already signed his papers for the military (before he turned 17), so IDK. I hope you enjoy what is left of your summer!
