2016 is Almost Over… Already?

state-of-the-blog

I decided to change things up and try out monthly recaps instead of weekly ones, which I’m now calling ‘State of the Blog’. I’m linking this one up to two memes: Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. 🙂

Looking Back on December

Oh, December, what a month it’s been. In the beginning of the month, I thought I was back on track to keep blogging. Oh, how wrong was I? Could not keep it up for more than a week thanks to A) a broken laptop (now fixed), B) finals, finals, finals, and C) catching a stomach bug. Ew. Needless to say, besides the holiday and winter break, December was not my best month.

Looking Back on 2016

Wow, I cannot believe that the year is almost over. It feels like I was just making new years resolutions for 2016 yesterday.

Despite all the horrible things that have happened this year, 2016 was still a pretty good year for me… life wise. I turned eighteen, graduated form high school, started college… life is great. Blogging wise, not so much. As much as I enjoy it, I guess I really did fall out of love with in as it took a backseat to my bookstagram account. But I am determined to use the last two weeks of my winter break to turn it around. Instagram is great and all, but there’s just something special about blogging.

I also didn’t do too well with meeting my reading goal. Unless I read 15 books in the next 24 hours, I will fail my Goodreads challenge of reading 52 book (a book per week). Oh well. I can’t say that I’m not surprised, although I am a bit disappointed. Turns out it was harder to find time to read and blog in college than I expected.

Books Hauled

The Grift of the Magi (Heist Society #3.5) by Ally Carter

I love the Heist Society series so when Ally Carter announced a new novella for the series, I just had to get it. As a side note, I finally managed to read the “declassified” additional epilogues of the Gallagher Girls books and now I am honestly debating buying the set even though I really don’t like the covers just because of the epilogue in the last book.

Books Read

Um… do textbooks count?

Oh, and I read The Grift of the Magi. How could I forget?

  1. Ick, sounds like December was not so great for you. :/ I understand finals – I’ve been in college for most of my blogging “life” and every time finals roll around, my blog productivity drops. I remember when my laptop died – that was in Spring 2014, the week before finals. I kid you not – I cried. A wonderful friend let me borrow his Mac (I had a PC) and I was a bit lost at first but then I quickly started getting the hang of it, until mine finally came back fixed. That was a traumatizing month. o_o

Anyway! I hope you’re doing better now, on all three fronts (sickness included)! Hopefully you can enjoy the break and read a bunch of books. I hope you enjoy your new ones!

    Happy New Year, Emz. =)

    Check out my STS post!

  2. Emz, sounds like we were both miserable together. I was on a Z Pack the entire week before Christmas. :/ Feeling better is so nice. I don’t know if I could have run my blog during college and still have done well in classes. Scheduling posts around finals time is a lifesaver! I hope you fall back in love with blogging in 2017!

  3. Happy New Year and here’s to a great blog year in 2017! Sorry to hear about the laptop and stomach bug issues, I’m kinda glad December is over too. Ready for a new year. 🙂

    Have a great week.

  4. I know what you mean since I’m totally nuts about bookstagraming now but I do hop you get to blog some more 🙂 There is indeed something special about blogging!
I had a pretty bad blogging/reading year too. My GR goal was oly 30 and I failed 🙂 Happy New Year!
