I decided to change things up and try out monthly recaps instead of weekly ones, which I’m now calling ‘State of the Blog’. I’m linking this one up to two memes: Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. 🙂
Looking Back on August
August has been very bittersweet. It was my last month of freedom (and free time) and the last month I had with friends. I spent a lot of time with family and preparing for college. That’s about it.

Books Hauled
- Daylighters (Morganville Vampires #15) by Rachel Caine
- Invisibility by Andrea Cremer and David Levithan
- Survival Colony Nine by Joshua David Bellin
I grabbed these three at two different Dollar Tree stores because Dollar Tree is no longer a dollar store in mind, but a very tiny bookstore. There’s really nothing to complain about. Except maybe their very limited selection. But hey, getting a brand new hardcover for $1.07 is still a steal.
Other than my Dollar Tree haul, I managed to uphold my promise not to buy any books last month. 🙂
Books Read
- Girl on a Plane by Miriam Moss
- Every Falling Star by Sungju Lee and Susan Elizabeth McClelland
- Iron Cast by Destiny Soria
- The Movie Version by Emma Wunsch
- Useless Bay by M.J. Beaufrand
- Blood Red, Snow White by Marcus Sedgwick
- The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon
They are all ARCs because of ARC August. Stay tuned for reviews!

Last Words
I really don’t know what’s going to happen to this blog as I make the transition to college. I’m going to try to keep it updated but I really can’t promise anything. I had a hard time keeping up in high school, I’m sure college will prove to be an interesting obstacle time wise.
Despite all the trouble I have with blogging and my poor time management skills, blogging has been a comfort for me these past four years. I can’t imagine giving it up because “I don’t have time”. Still, until I get settled I have no idea what’s going to happen to this blog. It might just be one or two posts a week (if I can even manage that). I do have a few reviews scheduled, but I don’t have the time to write any more posts even though I have a lot of ideas. 🙁
Either way, I’ll be around. You can definitely find me on Instagram and Twitter.
This is not the end. But it is goodbye… for now.
How was your August?
What are you looking forwards to in September?
You did great for books! I love that you’re doing a monthly look back instead of weekly!
Happy September!
I think you will find a way to manage both the blog and college. Sometimes RL comes first. Then everything else will be managed. Monthly recaps are awesome.
I hope you love all your new books.
I think your move to monthly check-ins is a great start to managing your time now you’re starting college. You might find you want to get these monthly posts done and keep your reviews up to get a break from study.
Either way, don’t stress too much about it and take care.
Good luck with college! Just post whenever you can and don’t stress about it! It might take you some time to figure out how to balance it all anyway! Don’t stress about it!
Good luck with school! You’ll be busy for sure, but once you get used to the new environment you’ll probably find time to post. If not, no worries! We’re not going anywhere 🙂
