Waiting on Wednesday – Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers & Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell

Waiting on Wednesday – Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers & Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. This week, I has such a hard time just picking one book so I chose two! 🙂 Assassins? Complicated love? Sign me up! I hope it turns out to be something like Graceling or Grave Mercy. I love retellings since they can be done in so many different ways. I’m definitely interested in Unhooked‘s take on Peter Pan. What are you waiting on?

Confessions of a Reader – Sometimes I Hate Reading

Confessions of a Reader – Sometimes I Hate Reading

I have something to confess. Sometimes I hate reading. Okay, so maybe I exaggerated a little. Just a little. Lately, I’ve been having a hard time getting in the mood to read. And since I’m a mood reader, I have to be in the mood or else I’m not going to make it past the first five pages. It’s not that I’m in a reading slump when no books seem appealing. I just don’t want to read. I don’t know what happened. But nowadays I […]

Weekly Recap – SNOW STORM JONAS?!?!?!?

Weekly Recap – SNOW STORM JONAS?!?!?!?

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. I have decided to try to participate in all of their memes with only one post…thus Weekly Recap. I used to call this feature The Sunday Post – Stacking the Shelves but that title was too long… Life This was a rather miserable week for me. I got slammed with tests and experienced some more blog problems. Last week, my host had server […]

Review – Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Review – Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Review: Their Fractured Light felt more like a (fun) roller coaster than a book. It’s full of ups and downs, waves of different (and opposite) emotions, and tons and tons and tons of action. Their Fractured Light is definitely a huge page turner. It pulled me in the minute I turned to the first page and I couldn’t stop reading until it was over. Every page was filled with suspense, mystery, action, emotion, “ah ha!” moments, or plot twists just to name a few. I […]

Waiting on Wednesday – Shade Me by Jennifer Brown

Waiting on Wednesday – Shade Me by Jennifer Brown

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. I love books with mysteries in them, espically ones like The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting, where the main character (and”detective”) has a special ability that helps them solve it. In this case, the main character appears to have synesthesia, which is even more interesting to me after watching (and loving) Cassandra from The Librarians (the TV show) do her thing. What are you waiting […]

Waiting on Wednesday – Zero Day by Jan Gangsei

Waiting on Wednesday – Zero Day by Jan Gangsei

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. I love thrillers and mysteries and this sounds like a cool one. I’m also really interested in the political aspect of it since I really enjoyed reading The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes last year and because I’m taking a government course in school right now. 🙂 What are you waiting on?

Why Diversity is Important

Why Diversity is Important

Diversity is important for many different reasons. One of which is in order to gain acceptance of certain groups of people, whether it be race, ethnicity, culture, religion, disability, sexual orientation, etc, you have to spread an understanding of that group. Understanding allows people to see beyond their differences and see that the things that make the group different doesn’t make that group weird and taboo, but unique. How can you expect others to understand and accept “weird” customs/actions/behaviors/beliefs if you do not explain why […]
